EDDIE ROSE – RIP APRIL 9 2025

Hillhead Cricket Club (Hughenden) is saddened to inform of Eddie’s passing this week after a long period of being looked after in a Glasgow care home.

Eddie’s interests were many:

Football with Hyndland FP, and Cricket both with Hyndland and Hillhead. Eddie was a prolific cricketer, a gifted all rounder who was one of a group of players in the 1970s -1990s who recorded the “double “ : 10,000 runs and 1,000 wickets in domestic competitions. He was also a fine centre forward who early in his career trialled with Queens Park.

He was very well known in the Folk scene of the 20th and early 21st centuries in all his many performances with the group SANNA.

Additionally Eddie was a long time feature as a speaker on the after dinner circuit in the West of Scotland.

He was a Cost Accountant in his business life, and latterly a Civil Servant.

A GENUINE ALL ROUNDER .
