What an epic performance from the U13 team tonight in the U13 ECB Vitality Cup 2nd round. They certainly gave the ‘fan club ‘ that turned out in force, their monies worth.
Hillhead bowled first, and mostly kept things tight with wickets from Zac (3) Eesa (2) Kairav (2) and Johvaan (2). They kept the visitors to 132 all out, with tight bowling in the middle to late overs, although at one stage a higher total to chase was on the cards.
In response Hillhead lost 3 quick wickets, but Kairav and Eesa, followed by Eesa and Blythe steadied the ship. Eesa batted fluently for his 32*. Run rate required hit 8.5 per over at one stage but the team played the game deep, with the last pair requiring 12 off the last over against their best pace bowler. Eddie and Veeraj saw it home sneaking 2 runs to the keeper with an overthrow to clinch victory.
A celebration ensued worthy of lifting the trophy at Lords. Fantastic TEAMWORK from the lads. We are all proud of you!!
