HILLHEAD CRICKET – MAY 14 ( evening ) and MAY 15 ( afternoon )

Despite the unseasonal weather, some 42 boys and girls came along to Hughenden, the home ground of Hillhead Cricket Club, on Friday night for some fun and games. Head coaches, Barri Gilani and Ian Holland, and their helpers had to work hard to keep everyone occupied. Not even the obligatory sudden downpour could dampen the enthusiasm of the young people. The show moved on to Saturday afternoon when the seniors made their first visit to the Hughenden square for an intra club friendly. Head coach Ramzan Mohammed was delighted with the all round performance and noted at the post game debrief : “ It was great to get back out onto the middle and play on a decent surface, thanks to Adam and Kyle, our groundsmen. Everyone got a bat and bowl and enjoyed it. Top marks to our youngster, Jarred Bartlett, who looked very impressive as an orthodox slow left arm bower and also as a more than useful opening bat ; cousins Hassan Azhar and Shehroz Mehmood were again both damaging at the crease while newcomer, Ben Ward, gave notice of his powerful batting technique.

1st X1 vice captain, Hassan, also encouraged the players to work together during the season so that they mighty finally realise their potential.

Meanwhile the immediate effect of Glasgow’s remaining in level 3 Lockdown is that there will be NO competitive SENIOR WDCU cricket until after SATURDAY MAY 22.
