East Renfrewshire 2nd XI 142 all out (37.1 overs)

Hillhead won the toss and elected to bat first. Hoping for a good start with the bat which has been the key in the first 2 games, Hillhead lost its first 3 wickets at the score of 31. Soon the pressure got to the middle order and with in 20 overs Hillhead 2 was 80/7 with the highest of 15 runs scored by Hillhead stalwart James Thornhill. Tables started to turn when two young guns Darshan and Ayush built a partnership and tired the opposition with quick singles and doubles. Their partnership turned out to be a crucial 46 runs within the context of the game, both scoring 25 runs each this was followed by a quick cameo of 21 runs at the end by Gowtham helping Hillhead reach the total of 170 runs.

In reply, Woodfarm (East Renfrewshire 2) lost their first 3 wickets cheaply. Hillhead opening bowlers Mark Forbes and Ayush Agarwal started well putting on the pressure with Ayush Agarwal picking up both the openers and soon Darshan joined him to trouble the opposition. Woodfarm had a partnership going of 42 runs for the 4th wicket between S Hussain and A Ali Sarwat, but Darshan broke their partnership to bring Hillhead back into the game. Both the off spinner’s Darshan and Rayyan kept Woodfarm quiet in the middle overs. Thanks to Gowtham who was brought back in the second half and picked up 3 wickets with the help of Hillhead captain Sai picking up 2 wickets from the other end. In result, Woodfarm was bowled out for 142 runs, losing by 28 runs.
Hillhead 2 prevailed thanks to an all-round team performance.

Hillhead 2 will face West Of Scotland 3’s in Stirling in round 4 of Championship 2 on 25th May.
