Langside 215 all out (48 overs) 25 points Hillhead 78 for 6 (26 overs) 0 points
(defeat by 71 runs on DLS Target score of 149)

Hopes of a continuing improved performance from Hillhead 1XI following the previous Saturdays close fixture with Renfrew proved defunct, as Langside were too good for the home XI throughout. In having first use of a blameless wicket, the visitors raced away to compile a score of 215 where again there was a largish contribution from extras, 40 in total, with 23 conceded in wides and 10 leg byes. The Hillhead seamers toiled manfully with at times little luck and the best returns were 2-29 from 10 overs from Keshav Soni and 3-27 from Snehaan Das. Wicket keeper and captain Jim Lindley Dawe was positive throughout, taking 3 good catches and not conceding any byes.

In their reply, which was cut short after 26 overs due to a torrential downpour, Hillhead batters could make little of either the visitors’ pacers or their spinners. Opener Shaz Mazumber hung on for a brave 34 not out while skipper, Lindley-Dawe, compiled a quick and aggressive 20, before holing out on the long on boundary.

Still seeking their first win in the competition, Hillhead now make the long journey on Saturday June 22 to Nunholm, Dumfries’s picturesque ground, where hopefully the change of air will provide a welcome tonic and uplift to their fortunes.
