On a cold damp December evening it was a great testament to the members for turning out in numbers for the end of year players meeting.
Richard Bond kicked the evening off in style presenting the Craik Cup winners, Cammy Horn, Barri Gilani and Jasper Gilani, with their individual trophies following the highly successful CC dinner a few weeks ago.
Next up was an in-depth meeting reminding players of the expected Standards when representing and playing for HCC, the play hard but play fair mantra that flows throughout this club. It has recently been discussed at the WDCU AGM that some clubs don’t always achieve this level and a new disciplinary Fair Play Scoring system is going to be implemented in the 2026 league games.
Veteran Ramzan Mohammed, who is going to be helping with the coaching for this coming season was very insightful using his years of experience to get the players thinking about what ‘good’ is and how we can go about achieving it in season 2025.
Mark Forbes spoke very well about some very exciting upcoming sponsorship opportunities that the club are looking to present in the new year – WATCH THIS SPACE!
The night finished off with some delicious chip butties from Café Source Too – apparently a very Northern English thing! I didn’t dare mention a crisp sarnie…. then onto Jim’s Christmas quiz. A great performance from all involved but the winners (pictured below) took the spoils and congratulations to them!
A brilliant finale to a sometimes difficult year, but overall I’ve enjoyed the majority of it!
