Hillhead 1XI 128 all out after 44 overs (25 points) Glasgow Accies 1XI 97 all out after 37.4 overs (3 points)

On an outfield saturated by the recent monsoon rains and a track that was just playable, Hillhead, led by the indomitable “Yorkie” Jim Lindley-Dawe, triumphed in a low scoring game which brought some pleasure to the players and supporters of the home Club after a very difficult season.

Hillhead were indebted to their middle order batters, Ganesh Ardarkar, “Shash” Mazumber, Jared Bartlett and Rayyan Butt, who between them contributed some 76 runs for their team. Accies for their part were profligate with their extras, bowling some 21 wides, and relied on the family combination of the Safis, senior and junior, to keep them in the fight. Between them their analysis was 16-5 -27 -8.

The target of 128 seemed reachable, but after only 7 overs of their reply Accies had slumped to 15 for 4,  Hillhead’s openers Gavin Lynch and Agrim Jain each picking up 2 wickets, the latter thanks to Keshav Soni’s catches at mid on. Reddy held the Accies reply together with a well crafted 24, but Mazumber’s medium pace trickery accounted for him and 2 more in the middle order. However it was not over while Farhan Shah threatened with his pyrotechnics, but he was left stranded on 22* when the last Accies wicket fell.

It was a bullish group which gathered at the conclusion of the game to exchange banter over the Bartlett BBQ. The win (and the burgers) certainly lifted the spirits BUT much work will be required at the winter nets on the basics of the game if Hillhead hope to bounce back from WDCU premiership 3 in Season 2025.
